WhatsApp, the most popular social networking app

Social media has made its position extremely strong in the modern world. Almost all individuals of all age groups undeniably use their free time keeping touch with their friends, staying up-to-date with current events, finding entertaining content, and sharing photos and videos with other people. All of these are made possible with social networking apps.

Socializing has always been popular back in the early days. But after the advent of the internet and the rise of smartphones, the trend has taken a sharp turn. There are numerous social media applications available for your smartphones. Both of the leading software, Android and iOS have thousands of apps related to social media.

There has been a tough competition going on between the two most popular social networking apps, Facebook and WhatsApp. According to the recent report, WhatsApp takes the lead in terms of monthly active users. Although Facebook had billions of active users reported in the previous years, allowing it to be ranked as the most popular app in the major markets all across the globe, Facebook is beginning to lose its popularity.

According to a report released by a renowned analytics firm, WhatsApp took the lead over Facebook last September. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, even stated that WhatsApp has approximately 1.5 billion monthly active users at that point in time. Well, that’s a huge number.

App Annie, the standard in-app analytics and app market data, reported that India was the top market of WhatsApp in terms of the rise in the number of active users, followed by Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, and Russia. Countries like Brazil and India, however, are popular for controversies involving fake news. To prevent the circulation of fake news, the company started taking initiatives to ensure that the distribution of unverified reports is restricted and limited.

WhatsApp’s encryption and simplicity ranked it as the top app in terms of engagement in the United Kingdom and Canada, where privacy is among the primary considerations of the users. WhatsApp has grown to be regarded as the most convenient application all over the globe. No matter how far you are you can connect with your loved ones in just seconds and that is what makes it popular. It provides its active users with a great UI and UX, allowing it to take the lead over Facebook in terms of active users.
