Microsoft plans to euthanize Windows 10 mobile in 2019

Microsoft, considered as one of the leading software for computing systems had already announced that it would stop supporting Windows 7 soon. Users of the old operating system will have to look after updates, virus threats and other related activities by themselves as Microsoft pulls the plug on the aging operating system.

This news came at a bad time for Windows users as Microsoft has also decided to end support in one of its products— Windows 10 mobile.

It has been reported that product updates will end on the 10th of December 2019. Devices running Windows 10 Mobile will no longer be able to receive any security or software updates. Moreover, the company will no longer provide any additional support if issues arise.

Users are encouraged to back up their files and documents.

This does not come as a surprise as Microsoft had already stopped working on Windows 10 Mobile back in 2017. Instead, their focus was on developing a series of tools for iOS and Android.

Microsoft has already built a mobile version of Edge, an Android Launcher, Cortana, and Windows Timeline integrations. Some users remain optimistic about Microsoft making a major mobile come back however based on the company’s decisions to improve support on Android and iOS devices, it might be safe to say that those hopefuls might want to rethink the future of their favourite mobile OS.
