WhatsApp Now Supports Face ID/touch Biometric Lock on iOS

Update your WhatsApp to the latest version of the messaging app on iOS devices, and tap into Apple’s biometrics for an extra layer of security.

WhatsApp has tremendously taken the lead in terms of becoming the most popular messaging application. WhatsApp is introducing new updates after every couple of months, keeping its users active and engaged. Recently, this popular application introduced an update to the latest version on iOS device that will find a new setting at the bottom of the ‘Privacy’ menu and add support for Apple’s Face ID and biometric authentication technologies.

The users of WhatsApp on iOS can tap through a menu and add an additional layer of security to it by Facial biometric or a fingerprint to unlock WhatsApp. New Apple iPhones, however, offer both unlocking methods while the older ones offer the fingerprint biometric only. So it is totally on the user’s preference and hardware in order to set the lock on the messaging app.

This new version 2.19.20 of WhatsApp for iOS app can enable the screen lock by tapping Settings > Account > Privacy. From there, you can enable Screen Lock.

WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption for its users. However, before the update, if your phone was unlocked, anybody can check and scroll down your personal messages. This update has solved this problem to a certain extent, but this update has been optimized for iOS users only. Soon this update will be introduced in Android and more platforms.

Not many people have known about this latest update as it is hard to find in the privacy settings and might be a little troublesome for users to look for. One thing that WhatsApp should offer in the near future is an extra passcode to the app, offering a universal extra security for both iOS and Android users.

There is a lot expected from WhatsApp for Android users as well, and if it introduces a passcode security system, then it will attract more users to use the messaging app.
