4 Things You Should Be Automating On Your Smartphones

In this tech-driven world, the building of highly advanced technology makes our lives easier.  In light of this, the question arises, why should we opt for tedious and lengthy tasks when we can go through shortcuts with ease?

When living in this contemporary world, smartphones provide us with the benefit of taking over menial tasks. Here in Loyica, we have gathered a few tips on automation that you could use to set up with your phones.

Automate Text Messages

Stress can accumulate when one is driving in a hurry or when stuck in traffic. It takes a lot of effort to write urgent text messages or to respond with one during this time. Automating text messages can save unnecessary effort in typing.

For iOS users, activate Do Not Disturb from the settings for the user to be able to choose certain contacts that would receive an auto-reply and get informed with what the message says. This is extremely functional and needed in certain situations.

For Android users, the auto-text is there but the SMS should be confirmed before the message gets sent.

Automate Photo and Video Back-up

Backing up is the best option in retrieving all lost photos and videos. Memories play a huge role in our lives and photos help us remember the eventful stories of our lives. Today, backing up precious digital memories has become a lot easier.

Google Photos provides 15GB free space and is available for iOS and Android users. However, this app resizes photos to 16MP and videos to 1080p. Upon installing the app, go to Settings and Back Up and Sync to make sure that everything would be sent to the Cloud.

Automate Typing

Typing requires a lot of effort. To make things a lot faster, one could opt for typing automation on smartphones. Phrases that are commonly used, it could either be a home address or apologies, could be omitted with just a few characters.

To enable this function on iPhone, open Settings, choose General, then Keyboard, and go to Text Replacement. The screen that appears would let the user add keyboard macros, and by tapping the Plus icon a phrase or shortcut can be entered.

For Android users, these are the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Choose System
  3. Go to Languages and Input
  4. Go to Virtual Keyboard
  5. Then go to Gboard
  6. Choose Dictionary
  7. Go to Personal Dictionary
  8. Select the language
  9. Click the plus button to add shortcuts and phrases

Automate the Phone’s Hours of Silence

During office, school, or college hours, phones should be kept in silent mode. To avoid embarrassing situations, phones should be automated to activate silent mode during times where it needs to be silent.

On iOS, this can be done by selecting the Do Not Disturb mode. As for Android, choose Sound and Do Not Disturb mode from Settings. If one wishes to activate the Do Not Disturb mode during the times it is set to turn on and without manual input from the user, tap Turn on Automatically.
